I-Phone Tease

I'm on the couch in the living room with Mikey and after the Saints/Falcons game, and what comes on after? None other than the women's collegiate Ultimate Frisbee championship. Combing women and frisbee? ESPN you foul temptress! You knew I couldn't resist this!

I got a 32gb I-Pod Touch for Christmas this year. It's a good thing because my old I-Pod is literally shitting the bed so to speak. It barely works. This new one is quite something. It's the new 4th generation one so it has a forward facing camera for FaceTime which is pretty damn cool. What do I need a computer webcam anymore? Besides that, everything is so smooth. The Apps, the internet. EVERYTHING. I even realized that my FourSquare wasn't working to its full capability. I had a hunch but I was finally able to confirm it with the Touch.
Music. Boom. FaceTime. Boom. Thin as a graham cracker? Boom.

This thing is such a damn tease. Verizon better hurry up with their version of the I-Phone because I don't think I can take Blackberrys much longer. I upgrade in March and who knows? Maybe I'll end up with another Berry but for now I want an IPHONE. After holding the  Touch and picking up my Storm, I feel like I'm holding a brick. The screen sucks, the apps suck, it looks like a hunk of black and grey metal. It seems I've grown tiresome of the world of Blackberrys.

 Dear Steve Jobs,

Hurry up with my I-Phone. I'll send you the money as soon as soon as I see a release date. I'll totally be an early adopter for this one. I swear.

Sincerely,

Disgruntled Blackberry User

Blizzard 2010

I can't lose. I just can't. See that Black dot? That's me. I'm standing outside with my skiis. Ready to get blanketed in the inevitable 1 - 2 feet of White Gold that's gonna bombard New England. Get some.

FourSquare

An interesting trip to Applebees late night tonight got me thinking about this social media website called FourSquare. It's a location based app that you can download to I-Phone, Android, and Blackberry. If you're saying that it sounds like Facebook places, that's because FourSquare has been out for 2 years and Facebook is just trying to get in on some of the pie. I was introduced to the website at my internship which ended last Friday. Fortune 500 companies are pouring tons of money into this website. It's growing by leaps and bounds and I'm just glad that I can say that I was there before it was big? Even though that's completely false because it came out in 2009. Oh well.
The idea behind FourSquare is that you "check-in" to locations and potentially earn discounts or promotional deals. If you check-in to a location enough times, you will become the "Mayor" of the location. Now this mayorship title is like the ultimate thing you want. For example, someone is the mayor of the White House and it's not Obama. Anyone with a phone can become mayor of whatever. It's also cool to see where you're friends are and what places they are checking out. I also forgot to mention that you can earn badges as well that award you for doing things like checking into hot-spots and staying out late on a school night. They're fun to get and it's almost like Pokemon. You gotta catch em' all. It is meant to encourage you to explore new places and try different things.

Close...but no cigar

Back to tonight, I became mayor of Applebees and I asked my friends if they have heard of FourSquare thinking, maybe, someone would have taken the plunge by now. My friend Adam exclaimed, "I love FourSquare!" I thought, awesome I have a friend that knows about FourSquare. To my disappointment, he was taking about the game involving.a dodgeball. Guess you can't win them all. I wasn't too happy about becoming mayor of Applebees. Not only do I not get recognition, but I really don't want to be the mayor of such an establishment. Though I must say, they stepped up their late night game. From 9-12:30am you can get $3.50 22oz brews and half price apps. Sounds like I found my new favorite place! The only place I would say that I am proud to be the mayor of would be Beechmont. That's pretty cool in my opinion. They're on Facebook and maybe Twitter, so when they start with FourSquare (if ever) I may even reap the benefits. Who knows. Other notable mayorships include such noble establishments as Amend Hall and the Iona College Boathouse. Not a big deal. So that's my take on FourSquare. I challenge you to download the app for yourself and try it out.

Some of the badges you can earn. Go nuts!

A Day for the AGES!

Well well well I guess I can blog outside of New Rochelle from time to time. Ever had one of those days where it seems that nothing can go wrong? Almost a movie quality day. Sunday was a day above all other days and it was in Foxborough, MA...home of the New England Patriots.

My dad has a pair of season tickets so it usually comes down to who wants to go to the game with him. Since the game was against the Packers, my Packer loving brother immediately jumped on the game since it was announced back in 2006. My Uncle has a pair of tickets as well and decided he wasn't going to go. We scooped them up and had a little ol' McKeon family trip to Gillette Stadium.

We started off the night by going to Red Robin at Patriot Place, which is the outdoor mall complex right next to the stadium. It's pretty damn cool. Anyways, I'm in love with Red Robin. The Foxborough location is the closest one from Lowell too. In fact, there are't many locations in the Northeast. In case you haven't heard or don't share the same love for food as I do, Red Robin is a burger joint that will change your life. No joke. Go today. Go tomorrow. It's amazing. I opted for the Royal Red Robin burger which is a bacon cheeseburger with a fried egg on top. Deliciousness. Along with a couple of bud light tall boys I was ready for a football game!

My brother and I sat in my uncle's seats which are in the corner of the endzone, 6 rows from the field. They're really cool, especially when the action is happening at our end of the field. Anyways, Before leaving the house, my brother and I decided to bring our ski goggles for added warmth and they just look cool. Well, it paid off. In the 2nd quarter. I was looking at the HD video board opposite the lighthouse and I see these two guys wearing goggles. I easily recognized us because we were wearing rival jerseys and I'm pretty sure we were the only people at Gillette who were wearing goggles. I immediately started to freak out and jump around. This was my 7 seconds of glory! I must bask in it! In my moment of joy I remember saying something on the lines of, "Oh yeah!, jumbotron. Whose on the jumbotron. This guy!" It's funny to hear what comes out of your mouth when your caught up in the moment. I loved every bit of it and it made my night. We then started getting texts from people at the game wondering I we were there and wearing ski goggles. Fame! Glory! It was too good. At any sporting event, you try to get on the jumbotron. It's just AMERICAN. I was on the jumbotron at the TD Garden a few years ago but I wasn't as excited. That one was scripted. We saw the camera guy and he just got on a knee and started filming. This one was a...Holy Sh&*&! were on the freakin' jumbotron moment! GLORY!

Being fashionable and warm at the same time

The Pats won 31-27. The Packers had a shot to win on the last play but the inexperienced QB ended up being their downfall. On the way out, me and Mike met up with the parental units at Dunkin Donuts outside the stadium. A nice little line had formed and we decided to stay in DDs because we were inevitably going to sit in at least an hour of traffic trying to exit the stadium. Turns out they were closing so they locked the doors and about 12 customers in at the same time, including me and the fam. I felt like I was in a fish tank, staring out at all the freezing cold fans looking to warm up with some delicious coffee and donuts and realizing the doors had been locked. As we were ready to leave and the line had been served, the girl behind the counter said the most magical words anyone could have ever said to me. "Does anybody want anything? We're just gonna throw this away." My eyes lit up and I realized how lucky I was. Anybody in MA would kill for a chance to get a free Dunkins buffet. It was an early Christmas! I didn't want to be greedy so I got 2 muffins, 2 bagels, and 3 donuts. My brother on the other hand fancied himself 7 donuts and 4 muffins, being the skinny fat ass that he is.

Atlantic City

I killed it this weekend. There's nothing else to it. One of the better weekends I've had in a while if you throw in the Patriots killing the Bears 36-7.

Drove down to Atlantic City on Friday and immediately headed over to the Tropicana (aka the Trop) and met the Steinbergs for some drinks n apps at Red Square - Atlantic City. Holy Crap, this place was amazing. I have a fascination with Russian stuff from Video games, clothing, and movies. It just so happens that I had finished the movie Enemy at the Gates the day before. It's about Jude Law who is this badass Russian sniper who shoots mad Nazis during World War II. Mr. Ed Harris was in it as well! (Another fan favorite of mine) Anyway, this bar was awesome. The walls were painted with murals of Russian propaganda, private eating booths where you could close the curtains and eat in private, a sub zero Vodka freezer, and leather chairs in every bathroom. Got myself a Yarpivo (a Russian Beer) and some Soviet Sliders. Both made the grade in my opinion.

The entrance
The Bar
Leather seats in the single stall bathrooms? I wouldn't sit on that if I were you.
Sick Chandelier
Loved the murals. There was another one to note but I couldn't find a picture of it.

After the Russian bar we proceeded to walk around the Trop, hitting up a 40's bar where they only served, you guessed it, 40's! for 5 bucks a pop, you can't go wrong! I concluded the night playing Roulette with Pete where I won a cool $100. I felt very proud of myself to say the least.

Day 2 -

Myself, Michelle, Pete, and Allegra opted to stay at the Steinberg residence because it was free, close by, and who doesn't love the Steinberg residence. Indoor basketball, Ping Pong, Delicious food, and Perks McGurks. You can't beat it. No way no how.
That night we ate at a pizza place at Harrah's which was right next to the indoor pool dance club thing that Andrew, Tori, Jules, Danny, and Cousins spent the night. I played Roulette with Pete and won a few...headed to the Borgata and had to battled back to break even...and finally ran across a divider to end up at Trump Marina, which was one of the tackiest dirty Casinos I have seen to date. Luck was on our side though and I finished the night making $275. I couldn't have been happier. I had 3 extra dollar chips and decided to play Dollar blackjack with Pete and Jordan but that was over pretty quickly. I'll stick to Roulette. You can't win blackjack. Ask Jordan. Oh and Michelle blew my mind and won $71 playing 1 slot machine! She defied everything I believed about slots. Well played.

Overall amazing weekend. I'll be back at Foxwoods in a few weeks to see Third Eye Blind and help Sonlee win $1,000 playing high stakes poker. We all know he is a champ.

Today is National Freezing Cold at Work Day!

The heat doesn't work back in intern land = winter hats and gloves while working. It doesn't help that I'm right next to a poorly insulated window on a windy day either!

Send me Hot Chocolate and warm sentiments ASAP!

Huh? Speak up. I can't hear you!

Over the past 3 months I've been traveling to NYC 3 days a week for my internship. I work at a computer the entire time so if I want to survive the day it is a MUST that I remember to bring headphones. There have been a few times in the past months where I remembered my I-Pod but forgot my headphones. That's like trying to play basketball without a basketball....It just doesn't work. Luckily there is a Walgreen's in Cooper Square that has bee generous enough to supply me with energy drinks ans headphones.

Usually I buy my favorite headphones, which I have owned almost a dozen pairs dating back to portable cd players. They tend to break after a year of use but I haven't found a better one until now. I saw these little things next to my usual pair and decided that I didn't need a 3rd pair of the Sony ones. I was a little skeptical of the whole skull candy thing because I associated the product with Ed Hardy and hardcore guido fist pumping. Totally a marketing concept that is on my final on Friday. Consumer Perception. Boom. A+

Anyway, when you take these guys out of the package they come with a medium ear bud as well as large and small earbuds. (In case you're Dumbo or whatever) I thought that was pretty cool, but I stuck with the medium ones because I like to think I have a nice average sized head. Started listening to some music and I'm digging the music quality. What I love about these buds compared to I-Pod ones that I absolutely hate is that they actually stay in your ear and don't fall out.

2XL Spoke Ambient Chatter Reduction Ear Buds WhiteIf you have these on you cant hear a thing going on around you. Other interns will walk in and say hi or whatever and half the time I can't hear a thing. Yikes. Even in the library the other day, if someone tried to tell me something, I had to take out both, not just 1 earbud. Now thats a headphone. Pick some up yo.

World Cup Fever

Russia and Qatar won the bids for the 2018 and 2022 World Cups respectively. WTF. Cold as hell to hot as hell. There is absolutely no in between. Don't even get me started that Qatar has never qualified for a world cup at all in history.

World-cup-2022-Drinking-Guide-Qatar

I was kind of hoping the US would win the 2022 bid. I even figured they had the best odds. They threw together an all-star cast of representatives from Bill Clinton to Morgan Freeman. How did we not win! Morgan Freeman narrated our presentation video. His voice is so godly! What were the judges thinking....Shame.
You'll get em next time...

Last thing I want to say before I go graciously into the weekend is that Qatar even had higher betting odds than us. Apparently you can bet on anything these days. They had 2 to 1 odds while we were sitting in the bleachers with 2/9 odds. So not cool. I really wish the US could have won because I would have wanted to go to a game. Looking back at the 94 World Cup in the good ol' U-S of A, Boston hosted a preliminary round. On the downside, in 12 years I would be 33. Yikes.

Check this link out. I found it today while readin travel blogs and World Cup Stuff. Apparently it's illegal to drink in Qatar so you might as well tell the Irish and English to stay home because they will NOT have of that. You Lose! Good Day Sir!

Walking in a Windy/Rainy/Poor Excuse for Winter Wonderland

Happy December everyone! 60 degree weather and torrential downpours sounds like a great way to start a month that should be filled with snow and slick roadways!

Imagine being on that bus around the 3:15 min. mark? Pure Fun. It's like skiing in a submarine

Anyways, I'd like to take the time out of your busy day to briefly discuss a sandwich that his been sweeping the nation. It's the McRib and I had the pleasure of trying one this past Saturday on my way back to New Ro. I won't take much of you're time but a few things bugged me about it.

Lloyds-18oz-Tub-Shredded-Pork_lg.jpg (300×313)
  1. It's messy as hell. You know that black guy in the commercial who ate the entire sandwich without getting a drop of sauce on his perfect fingers? He's a liar. I had tons of meat slippage while eating it. It was like trying to hold a greased up watermelon. That thing wouldn't stay in there.
  2. It's just Lloyd's BBQ pork people! Come down to Stop n Shop and I'll point it out to you. I'll buy you a container of the stuff and we'll go McRib crazy!

Speaking of which. I have decided along with Benjamin that a flaming Dr. Pepper shot isn't going to make itself so we're gonna go get some ameretto and 151 and do things up right. It sucks that Beechmont didn't have 151 for Andy's birthday last night. He said he would've made that drink in a heartbeat. Damn. So close!

Running like the wind!

Holy crap. I ran fast today. Maybe it was the cold. I'm not sure but I beasted and Pr'd my 10k by a solid 2 minutes.

It switched to 26 before I snapped the picture. Crafty thermometer....

Waking up I knew it was going to be freezing. The thermometer read 25 and I read that it was going to be 19 with wind chill. I should been snuggled up in my bed dreaming of Turkey and stuffing but I willed myself to run the race I've grown rather fond of over the last 2 years.

Anyways, long story short. I ran a 6:37 per mile pace which is blazing for a guy like me. So blazing in fact that I finished 12th out of 243 people! 2nd in my age group! That's a silver medal people! They don't just give out those kind of things everyday. Though I didn't actually receive a medal, everyone got to take home a sweet ass apple pie as a reward. I graciously accepted my pie and stumbled to find my mom's car and warm up.

I had to include my boy Youngblood who beasted 23rd. Congrats to him on setting a PR as well!
PS: Thank you Mr. cool old guy who ran beside me for miles 4 to 5.5. You're the man. You may have been 55 and done 20,000 Boston Marathons but today...You were MY little pace bunny. I wanted to pass you at mile 4 but you had such a groovy tempo that I couldn't resist. When I finally started my sprint with a mile or so to go, I looked back and you didn't follow me. Nothing personal. Thanks again. Your pal Bryan.

Turkey Trot 5k? Better make it 10k

I've become a little road racer over the last couple of years. 5 time John Carson runner and soon to be 2 time Thanks 4 Giving 10k runner. I did a little test run yesterday in hoped of seeing if I was able to hold a sub 7:00 minute a mile pace. I succeeded. Let's hope I can repeat this on Thursday. I wish New Ro wasn't so hilly but it seems both my home routes and New Ro trails have ridiculous hills in them.

Try this loop if you're in New Ro. If you finish at my house I'll give you a nutri grain bar and a pat on the back!

Maybe this year I can run the course correctly. I remember studying the course last year and I could have sworn that you had to go through the woods behind the Lowell Elks in order to continue past the 5k finish and on to complete the 10k. I was dead wrong. I ended up crossing the finish line and deactivating my timing chip. As I ran through the finish I noticed everyone was standing around in front of me looking tired and such. I quickly turned around and asked an official if this was the way for the 10k and he looked at me like I was an idiot and pointed towards the road I just turned off of. Hastily, I sprinted back onto the 10k course and beasted my way to a solid finish. According to race results I finished 57th out of 691 but that was only my 5k. I had another 5k to go after that. It also didn't help that there were ZERO signs instructing 10k runners to continue straight or the fact that a crowd had built up and was overflowing onto the race course.

Glory is won or lost on Pawtucket Blvd!

2009 5k results

I love the course too! It's a little uphill at the start and halfway points but it's a true hometown course. I grew up near the area and have run along the river since freshman year of high school when we used to do dreaded "Bridge-to-Bridge" runs for crew.

If I keep the pace I want to hold I'll finish in the top 20, Maybe somewhere around 16 or 17. Unless a bus from Kenya or local high school track team shows up unexpectedly. Gotta watch out for those 10k crashers with their natural African/Crazy white boy speed. Fingers crossed. Wish me luck!

"Celebrate we will / Because life is short but sweet for certain"

Another post put on the back burner for a week. I went to two DMB shows last week! Friday I went with Jules, Michelle Morrison, Michelle, Tori, and Andrew. Had a great time. My favorite 3 songs from the night were in order!

Friday November 12, 2010 - Madison Square Garden

  1. Lie in Our Graves
  2. Warehouse
  3. Bartender (Folsom Field video)
Coming into the concert, My top 3 to hear for the entire weekend was Lie in Our Graves, Warehouse, and Stay (Wasting Time). Who would have guessed he would play 2/3 of my top 3! What a guy. Just swell in my opinion. The one bummer about the show was that he played 7 songs from Big Whisky which I thought was a little much. I love the album and everything but 7 is a little much for me, especially since the album came out last year.

He also shortened the encore by 1 song because he had a toothache. No worries though. He made up for it on Saturday by playing the song (Pig) and tearing out faces off with the setlist.

Saturday November 13, 2010 - Madison Square Garden

Our seats for night 2!

What a show! He lived up to expectations on night 2. My favorite Dave show by far song wise. (I don't think anything can beat being 3 rows deep in the Pit for Citi Field Night 1). I need a Top 10 for the night because picking 3 is way too damn hard with the setlist he threw at us!
  1. Two Step
  2. #41
  3. Dancing Nancies
  4. Don't Drink the Water
  5. Pig
  6. Time Bomb
  7. Everyday (Live @ MSG 11/13)
  8. Rhyme and Reason
  9. Last Stop
  10. Best of What's Around
Amazing time. Went with everyone minus Jules and MMorrison, and added Quinones, Rourke, Chelsea Sheehan and a few others. You would think sitting behind the stage would be bad but it was awesome being able to see everyone jamming out, including Carter shredding the drums. We were actually a lot closer to Dave than most of the people who had tickets looking straight at the stage.
Citi Field 7/16/10
Also, found my new favorite hangout at Penn Station...Rose's. This little pizza place was throwing down $4.00 32 oz. brews. Just saying. That's the cheapest beer I've found in NYC to date!

I'm glad I got to see DMB again before he his break from touring next year. Looking back, I saw him 4 times. (Bethel, Citi Field N1, MSG N1 + N2) Over time I've found that I appreciate the band more and more. My first Dave concert was SPAC in 2009 and I only knew the songs he played on the radio for the most part. It seems the further I go into their discography, the more I see why people see him 20+ times. He puts on a great show and his music never gets old. So, I leave the post with a salute to DMB, who deserve a much needed break, and I hope they think of recording a new album soon!

RIP My Bike

This post is a week overdue, but the way I see it its like a funeral. When the person dies, it often takes a week or so for everything to sink and and get back to life. In no way am I comparing my bike to losing a loved one, but it definitely sucks when you lose something you weren't ready to part with...

The story goes as this. I ride my bike to Pelham train station 3 days a week for my internship. I've been locking up that bike since June in the same spot. During the summer I was even going into the city 5 days a week and never had a problem. So I get back last Tuesday and go to unlock my bike and I notice it isn't there. I don't know if I've been de-sensitized or anything but I wasn't sad or mad or anything. I was just blah. I looked everywhere. Maybe someone had moved it or the police had confiscated it or something. After realizing there was nothing I could do, no one to talk to or ask what they saw, I started calling people to pick me up because I had night class. 6 calls later, everyone was busy except for Michelle. By the time she got to me I had already walked 3/4ths of the way there.

This is a picture of what my bike looks like. It was so damn cool. I got that thing when I was in 6th grade or something like that. I took that thing everywhere. I remember biking trails on the bike path in Bedford, riding around the campground at Moose Hillock, hitting a telephone pole on my way to my first day of work in high school and having to go to the hospital :), and of course Erol and I's 20 mile bike ride that we ended up getting lost and being late to night class. Trying to recall memories has actually been fun because I had forgotten some pretty awesome times. One including going to the hospital after hitting the telephone pole. It wasn't the best of times, still got a scar!, but it's like experience, and good bar talk!

To sum it all up. I'm gonna miss my bike. And in the wake of the recent Glen Island car smashers (now the Glen Island Scumbags), it just makes me sad that even an upscale place like Westchester county can be so unsafe. It's not even like my bike was easy to steal. They needed a chain cutter to get at it. Scumbag. I hope you fall off my bike when you're riding it by the school you dropped out of. Have a good life.

Who Wants Make enough money to buy a Small Kia

Friday was ridiculously awesome. I got out of work early and headed up to East 67th to see a taping of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire with Rourke, Quinones, and Frankie McSpankie. I had been dying to go and it was relatively easy to get tickets because the show has fallen out of its prime time spotlight of yester-year. It was cool to see how everything was run but we all got a little bored during the tapping. There was a guest host (Tim Gunn) from Project Runway. He seems like a cool guy. Def. Uncle material. Why not?

What bugged me the most was that they changed the format of the show. Basically the first 10 questions are put in random order and given random dollar amounts. (Ex. One of the chickie poo contestants had a question asking what kind of hamburgers does Wendy's make. The answer being old-fashioned. That delicious question merited her a cool $25,000!) WTF! It takes the skill out of it in my opinion. People were only walking away with amounts like $8,000 and $21,000.
Welcome back to Who Wants Make enough money to buy a small Kia?

After the taping, we got an opportunity to audition for the show. This involved taking a 30 Question multiple choice test in 10 minutes. I loved it. It was a trivia test. There were 1 or 2 that I honestly didn't know, so when they were calling out the numbers of people who passed, I felt pretty confident. Unfortunately, only 6 people got the nod. I'm assuming they only took people that got every question right. Good news is that you can take the test as many times as you want. Maybe I'll give it another go, next year.

Lie in Our Graves

This morning I'm doing some research on Geek blogs. Sounds boring but these blogs have some of the most interesting stuff out there. Check this thing out.

E-TombE-Tomb

How cool is that! It makes so much sense too. You won't see this catching on anytime soon but imagine all the 20 somethings (including myself) that would want people to tweet a grave. That's insane. I'm amazed at whoever thought of this idea. It's genius.

Speaking of graves...I'm hoping to hear Lie in Our Graves tomorrow night or Saturday! I couldn't resist integrating Dave into this post :)

Working for the Weekend

This weekend is going to be ridiculously awesome. It's as simple as that.

Just listened to DMB Live in NY from this past summer. Got it on Warehouse. It's pretty cool to own a concert that you've been to. In fact, on one of the songs, a guy scream "I love you Dave!" If I knew they were gonna be recording that night I would've gone for something bold. Maybe a a 1..2..3 Go Gaels! for all of Citi Field to wonder what the hell I was talking about. Jokes on you guys....I made the CD. I wish I could've said that. That would have been boss. Here is one of my favorites from 7.16.10 @ Citi Field

Don't Drink the Water - Live at Citi Field 7.16

On another note, I figured I would have Thursday off from my internship because it was Veteran's Day. I was dead wrong. We have school off so I just kind of assumed it was one of those holidays where everyone shuts down the ol' mom n pop shop and grills of some burgers and chills. Direct quote from my boss after asking if we get Thursday off. "Oh...in the real world we work holidays." A sobering truth indeed. That won't stop me from throwing a little Salute America bash though. I've got the rest of my life to work Veteran's day. Sure, I'll be there at 9am ready to tackle a day of tappin away at my computer...but I may need some Chinese food and a couple red bulls to encourage me. Go Gaels.

Do that dance Dave...Hopefully I'll be Two Steppin' as well?

Cool Kids

It's that time of year again. We all make the transition from bathing suits and shorts to long sleeves and winter hats. Here at Iona, I always feel like I'm missing the memo on proper attire for this warm/cold/fall season. For example, when it's raining out, everyone is wearing shorts and flip flops, but when it's actually VERY NICE OUT, and I decide to throw on my shorts for one last go, I see everyone wearing jeans, long sleeve shirts, and theit constantly polished Nike Whites. *It never seems to happen but I love when the weather is just right to wear shorts and a long sleeve shirt...Nothing says, "Check me out, my choice of wardrobe is contradicting, but I still remain warm and stylish." FTW.*

Something I'll never get about NY, that's one of them. And Cablevision. Over the past year we've lost channels like the Food Network, ABC, and currently Fox for long periods of time. This FOX ban is the longest that I've experienced and it pisses me off when I'm seeing my bill go up and up. And I love the commercials we get to see as well from Fox, Cablevision, Dish Network, Verizon, and Direct TV telling me I've made a horrible decision! Switch over here! It's like a breakup and all the drama is being broadcast over the air in the form of PSA's and commercials.

Hey Bryan, we're sorry about what Cablevision did to you. We don't mean to hurt you. We just want more money. Need anything buddy? Some Hot Cocoa? Buffalo Wild Wings? Let's go see a movie some time.

Love,

Potential Cable suitors.

Lunch for $7.50 in NYC! And it's not even a pretzel or hot dog...

I'll make this short and sweet. Lunch today. Heard about this Thai place called Spice on 2nd Ave and East 6th. Ordered Chicken Pad Thai and it came with a free appetizer! I chose the spring rolls. They were delicious. Overall, the bill came to $7.50! Amazing! Im in heaven right now! Plus - It's always Sunny in Philadelphia to watch during lunch...can't get any better!

My delicious lunch. So Cheap! :'( Tears of Joy!

Applefest 2010

I may or may not have completely overshadowed the fact that I went on a huge Apple picking spree last Sunday. I spent most of the day at Outhouse Orchards in Croton Falls, NY. It's about 40 minutes upstate and I'm pretty damn sure the metro north has a station there. *Just a fun little fact* I drove my Neon up with Michelle, Nonners, and Rourke. It's a good thing they cam along because they ended up kicking my ass at picking apples to say the least. I'm used to farms that the highest apple you can get is within arms reach, or a small jump towards the sky. These trees were like 20 feet high! WTF! Who does that? And of course it says "no climbing trees" and "Poison ivy on everything!" I don't believe you....Well luckily mostly all of the trees were so large that you could set up a small hobo camp in the middle of the tree and no one would notice. $25 and 73 apples later we were finished picking. Now that $25 is for one bag and that was only for Michelle and I. We will evade scurvy for quite some time. (Now I'm assuming their is a lot of Vitamin C in apples thus adding validity to this statement.)

The day at Outhouse Orchards was spent getting fries, some delicious homemade donuts, and waiting 45 minutes in line for a smoked turkey leg which pleased me very much! Oh, and I walked away with a pretty damn good pumpkin too. Success. My fall is well underway.

Now with 73 apples comes a lot of baking responsibility. So on Monday, Michelle and baked an apple pie, apple muffins, apple bread, and Apple sauce (which meant to be cider but it didn't turn out as we had planned) Delicious....all of them! Still got a good 40-50 apples left. Yikes

First pie I've ever made (with some help of course) I'm a pro

*Different Story for a Different Day*

Went to one of my favorite places on North Ave the other day and saw these little guys calling out to me from behind the pane of glass. I had a sneaking suspicion as to what they are and my question to the guy working there only confirmed and added to my excitement! Baked Mac n Cheese Sticks! How delightful! I ordered 1 for $1 and the guy said he would warm it up and bring it to me. I ordered a sub as well (a "wedge" if you live in Westchester County, NY) so don't think I'm on weight watchers or anything. OK. so moral of the story, the guy completely blew me off so when I finished my sub/wedge, I reminded him and he gave me an additional 2. So 2 + 1 = 3 = 2 Free for me :) They were delicious to say the least. If you're around 752 North Ave some day...Pick these little guys up. They're begging to be eatin'
Whose a wittle Mac n Cheese guy...You are!

"So Many Activities!"

Look at me! Two followers! 4 if you count Michelle and my mom (whose name coincidently is Michelle...I know my gf has the same name as my mom...but feel free to mention it to my face next time you see me just to make sure that I 100% know for sure. k thanks :)!

This weekend was highlighted by an epic amount of activities! Here's a list

  1. 3 hour rowing practice with T_Scifes n the Glen Island Geese
  2. A little ice skating sesh at the Ice Hutch in Mount Vernon(which ended up influencing number 7)
  3. Food shopping
  4. Frozen yogurt with Kayla, Ryan, Brian, and Michelle. (Never get to hang out with Kayla but it was a good change of pace from the usual crowd of Pelhamdalers. Note: I need to increase and interweave my circle of friends for optimum efficiency and good time havingness.) I tried the white peach frozen yogurt and it was amazing. Like crazy amazing. Topped with strawberries and I died on the spot. Wish I remembered what the place was called because I'm going back next time I have the chance. Oh..and they won me over with self-serve free sample cups! FTW!
  5. Party City for a little Halloween costume search. Found a costume. Wait til the 31st to see what it is! For those who did see or who like to snoop through my ridiculously big closet, don't tell plz. Honors system here people.
  6. Pizza Hut! Quinny or Nonners led the charge on this one. We may have ordered too many pizzas and we may or may not have felt like fat-asses afterwards. Especially with the family size order of cheesy sticks which are pizza without sauce. haha. what a world. Oh and Pizza Hut and B Wilds might as well be the same thing.
  7. Mighty Ducks move night! Ducks fly together! It's not worth winning if you cant win big! You coulda been one of the greats! Quack Quack Quack Mr. Ducksworth. Yessssss.
Yes Charlie...Skate your way into our hearts! And don't forget
to "Triple Deke" along the way!

Note to self: Begin research on where all the mighty ducks ended up...I'm curious to find out where standouts like Connie and Jessie ended up. We all know Charlie ended up on the hit TV show...What was it called? Frappe? Frink? Fringe. yup. That one. A far cry from his promising future in the Mighty Ducks....

I'm going modern all over your @$$

I have seen the future. And it is good! Yesterday was all about design/modern blogs and I found some of the most fascinating sights with new products and concepts alike. I want to be rich already so I can satisfy my hunger for sweet ass modern furniture and gadgets! Check out some of the things I found most interesting from my research....

USB Outlet!
This makes so much sense!

Non-Fogging Mirror/Shower head
Can't wait until that mirror is a TV someday! Soaps while ya soap? Sports while ya shave? Yes please

This isn't a product. This is a guy's apartment. It was so small he was able to get every little bit of use out of every bit of space he had. It just reminds me of a tree house sort of thing. I would love to live here for a week. Not sure for a lifetime though. Not good for having guest over.

Pool/Bath/Spa
Bath that submerges into a pool? Hell yes!

Part 1 of 2 - Luxery RV
I've always wanted to ride around in an RV but this is just too good to be true
